Layers Beneath the Surface

One of the things I've learned over the years is that life has layers.

What people see on the surface is often only a small part of the story. We see the smiles, the accomplishments, the victories, and the milestones. Yet beneath those visible moments are experiences, struggles, lessons, prayers, and seasons that have helped shape who we are.

A tree may appear strong because of what stands above the ground, but its strength comes from roots that no one sees. The same is true in our lives.

God often does some of His greatest work in the hidden places. In the quiet seasons. In the unanswered questions. In the moments when we feel as though little is changing, even while He is steadily shaping our hearts.

Sometimes we don't fully understand what God is doing while we're walking through a particular season. It is only when we look back that we begin to see His hand at work.

What once seemed like a detour becomes part of our testimony.

What once felt like a disappointment becomes a lesson in faith.

What once appeared to be a closed door becomes the pathway to something better than we could have imagined.

The truth is that God is not only interested in what others see. He is also working in the deeper places of our hearts—the places where growth, healing, wisdom, and faith are formed.

Perhaps today you are carrying questions you cannot yet answer or walking through circumstances you do not yet understand.

Take heart.

God is still at work beneath the surface.

Trust Him with the layers you cannot yet see.

Trust Him with the chapters you do not yet understand.

He is still writing your story, and He is faithful to complete what He has begun.
